MOMCares offers doula services, workforce training, and support for Black mothers and families. MOMCares is a Baltimore organization founded by a local mother who went through unemployment, homelessness, personal tragedy, and premature birth during her motherhood journey. As Alan Fink, Lucy’s grandfather, reminded us, “a family simcha (joyous occasion) can be turned into a philanthropic action and supports our community.”īringing a child into the world is one of the most joyous things imaginable, but it can also be scary if you lack the support that many families are blessed to have.
This was the perfect chance to bring everyone together. He loved the idea, and Heidi introduced him to an amazing organization called MOMCares. In honor of his new granddaughter, we suggested working with an organization that targets newborns and mothers and had happened to have hired us to assist them with their annual Friendsgiving Award Gala the following week. So, when he called us and told us about adding in celebrating his Granddaughter’s baby naming, we immediately saw an opportunity to do something amazing that combined the baby naming with a chance to give back to the community and we knew just how! Giving Back and Having Fun In the past for one of his Bar ‘Mitzvahversaries’, we created centerpieces that were donated to Camps Louise and Airy, and our client funded scholarships for children to attend. In addition to all this celebrating, our client wanted to include a mitzvah project in his event, as a way to give back to the community. However, this year he also honored his new granddaughter and celebrated her baby naming.
Every year, this client sponsors the Kiddush luncheon at his synagogue on the anniversary of his bar mitzvah. One of our longtime clients came to us in need of assistance in planning a special event.
